یکی دیگر از دلایل استفاده از پلاتینیوم به دلیل محدوده وسیع کاربردی -۲۵۰ درجه سانتیگراد تا ۸۵۰درجه سانتیگراد وهمچنین خطی بودن تقریبی تغییر مقاومت این عنصر با تغییر دما وداشتن مقاومت مرجع معین در دمای ثابت است.

متدوال ترین سنسور مقاومتی pt100 می باشد وعلت این نام گذاری این است که در دمای صفر درجه سانتیگراد مقاومت آن برابر ۰۰/۱۰۰ اهم می باشد.

از دیگر سنسورهای مقاومتی می توان pt100 ,pt500 Pt1000 را نام برد.
